We need for Night to Shine! Read about the volunteer positions below and sign up for where you would like to help.

For the safety of our guests, all volunteers over the age of 18 must complete a background check. The only exceptions are the Red Carpet team, the Respite Room team and the Set up Team. Background checks are valid for 2 years, so if you completed one for the 2023 event, you do not need another one for 2024. The cost of the background check is $16.95 and we are asking volunteers to cover the cost of their own background check (otherwise, we have to allocate funds which are significant portion of our budget!). In the past, volunteers do not show up to the event after we had already paid for their background check. We are hoping this will reduce the amount of volunteer no-shows. If you are unable to cover the cost of your background check, let us know and we will cover it for you. We don’t want anyone to miss out on volunteering due to cost.

Volunteers need to arrive at 5:00pm on February 9, 2024.

The Registration Team must arrive by 4:00pm.

Buddy Team

Our biggest volunteer need is buddies! Each guest will have a buddy that will spend the entire night with them. Their main job is to make sure the guest is having fun and is never left out of the fun! There will be a training session required for all volunteers before the event, so you will be well prepared for your role. We offer an in-person training, as well as an online training. We are expecting 500 guests, so we need that many buddies as well!

Most of our buddies do not need to have any experience working with people with special needs; however, we do need some buddies that do have experience working with the special needs community. If you do have experience, there is a place to indicate that on your registration form.

Red Carpet Team

We need lots of people to cheer for our guests as they exit the limos! This is a very fun and high energy part of the event, and it is so important for letting our special guests know how important they are! This is a great place for our youth and children to help out!

The Red Carpet team does not require a background check

Set-Up Team

Help set up the day of the event, starting at 9:00am until approximately 12pm. A background check is not required unless you want to volunteer in another capacity as well. Please add a note to your volunteer registration form if you will be on the set-up team and an additional team.

Glam Room

Our ladies will be treated to hair and makeup, and the men will get their shoes shined! Most of the guests will come with their hair and makeup at least partly done, so this will be somewhat simple. The main point is to make the guests feel pampered and special! You do not have to be professional! We just need people who know what they are doing and want to help pamper our guests! We also need a few men to shine the shoes of our male guests.

  • Gift Bag Team (6 people needed)
  • Information Team (30 people needed)
  • Medical Team (20 people needed)
  • Respite Room (Parent/Caretaker Room. Background check not required.)
  • Clean up Team- cleaning up during the event
  • Tear Down Team- starts at 9pm
